Flame Retardant For Flexible Foam

Fire protection for flexible PU foam is a long-term headache for all manufactures. Basically all flexible foam have poor flame retardant due to their organic composite. But there is a growing need to make the material fire proof, as most foam products are used in very near touch of human contact.

Expandable Graphite, in this case, are considered a very good flame retardant for flexible PU foam and proved by many users have a very good effect on oxygen index; 

When there is a fire happen, graphite inside the PU foam will grow in size instantly hundred times, to generate a carbon layer on the burning surface, this cause further burn will need more oxygen, and the fire will stop simultaneously. This makes Expandable Graphite a very promising and must added material to Flexible PU Foam.
